A Parable of Immortality - Poem

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength,
and I stand and watch until at last she hangs
like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says,
" There she goes! "

Gone where?

Gone from my sight . . . that is all.

She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and just as able to bear her load of living freight
to the place of destination.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment
when someone at my side says,
" There she goes! "
there are other eyes watching her coming . . .
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout . . .

" Here she comes! "

Sally Deford - an angel, and not very well disguised

In my next life one of the first people I will ask to meet is Sally Deford. I stand in awe at the talent she possesses and her willingness to share. I have loved her music for many years now. She is one of my idols. Thank you Sally!

Sally Deford graciously shares her sheet music, and to be honest, you will be hard pressed to find better. Check her downloadable music out at: http://defordmusic.com/alpha.htm

"Find the Power" by Afterglow, lyrics

1. I look around and see what I've been given,
And I think about the ones before
Who gave their lives and died for the cause.
I think about this blessed Restoration,
And the truth that's come from heaven
With the pow'r to change the lives of this world.

2. Here we are in a time of revelation,
With the answers we can give the world
To the questions of just why they are here.
Who are we to dismiss this charge to others?
It's a sacred obligation and a priv'lege
To be helping the Lord.

Fin the power that you have in your heart.
There's a stone rolling forward; It's the nation of God.
For the battle is raging, and the armor is strong.
The enemy is losing. Which side are you on?

3. Take a stand with the author of salvation,
And choose your destination
By rememb'ring where it is you belong.
Move ahead with a strong determination,
Giving heed to the direction,
And obeying the commands of the Lord.

The Circle of a Woman's Reach

Words and Music by Deborah F. Hamilton, copyright 1979, in a book by the same title. This music is currently out of print and so I have included it here. However, it may only be used for personal use or for worship services and may not be mass produced or used in anyway that would infringe upon upon the author's and her rights. This may absolutely not be sold for profit.

Update:

Dear Allyson,

You have a very lovely website. I happened on one particular song.... See below. I know you mentioned that this music, although copyrighted, can be copied for personal use as it is “out of print”.

According to publishers, The copyright owner still needs to be contacted and compensated for their work (per Hal Leonard).

As we need the spirit to accompany our singing…I advise (hopefully, not unwelcomed), against posting, unless you have written permission from Deborah Hamilton. Some people are constantly tempted to justify copying music, when it’s simple enough to ask permission.

The gal that is hunting for this music is going to purchase it off of Amazon.com. For me, I'm trying to teach my groups about respecting our fellow musicians and asking permission.:-)

Thanks!!

Deb
